The Bible says that the steps of a good man are ordered by Lord (Psalm 37:23). I've had some serious doubts about that before. In fact, if you would have told me ten years ago that I would be where I am today, I would have thought you were crazy. Yet here I am.
So, I also look at that verse and see it says, "steps of a GOOD man". Well, I haven't always been good, so you wonder if God orders our steps when we aren't good. God isn't stressed about the paths we take in our lives. He knows the end from the beginning. Even if we get off the path He wants for us, He can direct our steps back there.
Do you remember the days before we had GPS? We had to use a paper map or remember landmarks to get where we were going. Today, if we are off the route, our devices will re-calculate it and get us back on the right direction. God does that too. WE may feel like we are lost but He knows exactly where we are and knows how to get us back there.
Sometimes the people around you will assume that you have lost your way, but the fact is that God has got you and is directing you in the direction He wants you to go. Don't let people tell you where should be if you are following the path God wants you to be on. Some get stressed out about and think you always have to be on the perfect divine path. That's only something between you and God can know.
There was a time I ended up relocating to Tampa, Florida. After the first month, I knew it wasn't the place for us. It took two LONG years for us to relocate from there. During those two years I realized that I was in a "holding" location until the next place was ready for me. I also had a purpose to serve where I was. My supervisor in Tampa was out for months due to pneumonia and I was able to pick up the responsibilities and take care of things until she was able to return. Once she returned, I felt I had completed my purpose there and was ready to move on.
You see, it's easy to complain in the place where God has us but sometimes, we don't understand that we may, in fact, be in a holding place until the next place is ready for us. Our purpose is to do what we can where we are until circumstances are ready for us to move on.
Did I complain while I was "waiting" in Tampa? Heck yeah, I did but I tried to understand and fulfill my purpose. I don't want you to think that I took it well. I didn't but I later learned from it. This also wasn't something I could see God's purpose while I was going through it but when I went through it and looked back. I remember countless days I was walk over to the Hillsborough River during lunch and pray about it. It was a rough time, but the timing finally worked out.
There is no end to this until we have crossed over into heaven. Don't think that the path you are on is the final path for you. Life has many twists and turns. We have to be able to adjust to changes in our path and walk in it the best way that we can. Just remember that God isn't surprised, and he knows you from beginning to the end. Trust Him and let His Spirit guide you today.
