Tech Review: Zagg Pro Keys Wireless Keyboard and Case

I have tried a lot of keyboards over the years and the Zagg Pro Keys keyboard is the latest one I have tried.     This keyboard surprised me and is definitely one I would recommend to anyone wanting a quality keyboard for the iPad.

Let's go over some of my must-haves in a keyboard:

#1 - It must feel good for typing.

I have to be honest that I did not have a good first impression with the feel of the keys the first time I typed on them.  The keys felt a bit too slick and slippery but I was able to adjust to it fairly quickly.  It was definitely a good keyboard for a fast typist.  It wasn't too clicky and quieter than other keyboards I have tried.

#2 - Keyboard must be able to use in your lap.

No problem here.  The keyboard was slim but not too flimsy to use on your lap.  The keyboard and positioning of the iPad was comfortable for using in my lap.

#3 - Must have backlit keys

Having keys that are backlit are essential for times when you are typing during low light conditions.  This keyboard did not disappoint.  The backlighting wasn't overpowering and just enough to assist in typing with little lighting.

#4 - Must be able to easily remove iPad

The iPad is connected to the case with a magnetic base.  It fits strongly in the case and removable when you want to use the iPad as a tablet.  The removable case still protects the iPad and also has a slot for the Apple Pencil.  I liked this feature but it did become a slight annoyance at times.  The magnet is a bit strong and sometimes takes a few seconds to line up the iPad when you connect it back to the case.

#5 - Must have good connectivity

This keyboard was easy to connect and I had no problems keeping the connection or any delays when I wanted to start typing.

Other things to note:

This keyboard works with iPad 10.2" 7th Generation (2019), 8th Generation (2020) and 9th Generation (2021).  It also pairs with two devices simultaneously such as your iPad and iPhone so you can switch between them if necessary.

Overall, I liked this keyboard and it is a good one for students or commuters who are on the go.  It is a lightweight case which will slip into a backpack.  The price may be a little steep at approximately $100 but it is good quality for daily use.  Zagg makes some good accessories and this one does not disappoint.
