No. It is not.
I’m not a Bible scholar but I do know enough to say with confidence that the vaccine is NOT the Mark of the Beast described in the Book of Revelation. There is a ridiculous belief circulating where some are alleging some sinister plot with the vaccine.
Even some Christians are being stumped by this false claim. This really puzzles me because if they would read the Bible for themselves they would see it.
So what does the Bible say?
Revelation 13:16-17
And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Revelation 14:9-10
Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
It's notable that the word mark is translated from the Greek charagma. The charagma was a symbol used somewhat like notary seals are used today. The symbol consisted of a portrait of the emperor and the year of his reign. It was required to complete commercial transactions and was stamped in wax on official documents to authenticate their validity. The mark of the Beast will function in a similar way, identifying those who bear it as worshipers of the Beast and permitting them to conduct financial transactions.
A person will not take the mark accidentally. When this time comes people will know what it is. It won’t be hidden and will be a voluntary allegiance to the Beast and his financial system. If we have learned anything from the last four years is how easily people can fall for a charismatic leader.
Why the confusion?
Unfortunately we are still suffering from the after effects from the previous administration which tapped into many Americans and their distrust of experts. The out of control conspiracies have caused this belief that the vaccine is somehow part of the prophecy. Social media has spiraled this conspiracy out of control and fueled people’s fear of the vaccine. Sometimes conspiracies are mixed with Biblical prophecies to deceive both believers and non-believers. Many people do not understand what the Bible actually says about things.
