Since 2016, WordPress has been the host for my blog. After five years with WordPress, I had to make the decision to leave WordPress because I couldn’t afford the $300 renewal subscription for their service. WordPress was great. Their customer service is top notch and I enjoyed learning more about blogging. Unfortunately I also had this grand idea that I was going to be able to make some extra money blogging. Not to get rich or quit my day job but I was only hoping for enough to at least play for my renewal. I came up short in those expectations so I have moved on here on Google’s Blogger.
There are a few things I already like better about Blogger. First, it is free but I’m still waiting for the “catch”. Haven’t seen it yet but I’m still looking for it. I’m wondering when I will reach the limits of the free part.
Second, I can have separate blogs which I can now do with my other subjects that need their own space. One is “The Obscure Sports Dude” which is a place I can write about obscure sports teams and leagues. The other is “The eDiscovery Dude” which is a blog dedicated to explaining eDiscovery to the average person.
Finally, using Blogger is a lot easier. Using WordPress was a bit challenging and required a lot of time. So far I have liked using blogger and how my blogs look on mobile devices.
As for this blog, I like to write about different things. You never know what I might write about next - sometimes I don’t even know. It has been a lot of fun and I hope Blogger will be my home for a long time.
As most of you know, I began writing in 1995 when I worked part-time in the sports department of the Macon Telegraph newspaper in Macon, Georgia. I loved writing about sports and when the editor gave me a chance to cover my first sports event, I was hooked. That start has led me here.
So, welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy the ride.
